Who are we? 

We are a general contractor specializing in commercial, residential and civil construction projects in the Inuit communities of Nunavik. Our company is 100% owned by Makivvik, the non-profit organization which represents the Inuit of Nunavik and whose mandate is, among other things, to promote the social and economic development of the region. The well-being of Northern Quebec communities and the improvement of the quality of life of the residents who live there are just some of the many issues that we are tackling through our construction and development projects.

What does the position involve? 

Under the authority of the controller, the accounting technician must:

  • Obtain the proper approbation and process supplier invoices into the accounting system;
  • Communicate, if necessary, with different suppliers;
  • Ensure proper classification of supporting documents;
  • Prepare customer invoices;
  • Produce purchase orders and transmit to suppliers;
  • Carry out bank collections and deposits;
  • Update customer/supplier files in the accounting system;
  • Support the preparation of files for the annual audit;
  • Produce various reports as needed;
  • Perform certain administrative tasks;

What skills should you have?

  • Hold a professional diploma (DEP) or an accounting techniques diploma (DEC);
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting;
  • Have a functional knowledge of two of the three working languages, namely English, French and Inuktitut; orally and in writing;
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite;
